Angry bird invitations

Not surprisingly, my soon-to-be 7 year-old son wants an Angry Bird Party this year. 

Unfortunately there are no Cricut cartridges with Angry birds on them!!!!!!!!, so I got out the Gypsy and made my own.  This is probably my first real attempt at making something myself on the Gypsy.

The beak is diamond shaped and folded in half so it opens.

The party is on Friday.  Looking forward to it!

Invites for a girls nite

My friend asked me to make her some invitations for a 'girls nite' party.  I thought cocktail invites screamed girly nite to me!

I used Cricut cartridge 'Nifty Fifties' for the cocktail glass, Cuttlebug embossing folder 'Dot Matrix' to look like bubbles, a real cocktail umbrella and a bit of bling (it is a girly party after all).  All the details were typed out on the back.

Pony party

A friend asked me to make her some pony invitations for her daughters 5th birthday. 

I used Cricut cartridge 'Create a Critter' and modified the horse (I really just chopped its legs off!!!).  I mounted it on a stick (like one of those 'ride-a-pony' toys), and added a ribbon bridle.

Dinosaur party invites

My almost 6-year old is having a Dinosaur party.  He's going to be 6 so its not cool to go cutesy, so I thought the party invites should be grungey too.

Here's what I came up with using Cricut Cartridge 'Dinosaur Tracks'.  I made them all a bit different using two fossil shapes and the flip function.  I also used the negative parts of the fossil ie. skulls and bones and glued them to the back of the invites for a bit of added interest.  They were very quick to make!

Princess party

My daughter recently had her 3rd birthday and wanted a purple Princess party.

I made some crown invites (purple of course) using Cricut cartridge 'Indie Art' and Cuttlebug folder 'Swiss dots'.  I also made up some thank-you cards using photos taken from the party.

Monster birthday party

My five-year old son wanted a Monster birthday party.  He's into monsters in a big way and I thought it pretty apt for a five-year boys party!

I made the invites and loot bags using Cricut cartridge 'Mini Monsters'.  I decorated balloons with googly eyes and horns (cut using the Cricut again).

Party food (which I wish I'd taken photos of!!!) included monster cupcakes, snakes in jelly and plastic insects in ice blocks.  The cake was a large rounded cake with piped butter icing, ice-cream cone horns, marshmallow eyes, white chocolate teeth and a spineful of birthday candles.

We had an icecream party for my daughter's second birthday and I made some very easy invites.   I used Cricut cartridge 'Indie Art' to cut the cone and lots of scoops, Cuttlebug for embossing the cone and some brads for sprinkles.

Dog Tag invites

My sister, although scathing of my papercraft obsession, always gets me to do birthday invites for my nephew.  This year the theme is an action packed war game, so I decided to do dog tag invites and they are by far the easiest invites I have ever made!

I cut out dog tag shapes from Cricut cartridge Tags, Bags & Boxes - 2 grey cardstock and 2 camouflage paper per invite.  I printed out the details on the grey cardstock (personal details have been obscured in photo for privacy).  I used a Dymo labeller for the names and adhered to a camo piece.  Each grey piece was backed with the camo paper, punched and hole and set an eyelet.  I then threaded with string.  It was very quick and perfect for a grungy boy themed party.
