I wanted to do a layout to remember my daughters first time she ever wore piggy tales (because its just too darn cute to forget). She was pretty excited about it all and she kept playing with them.
My inpiration came from Tracey Reynolds at Paperzone. She had used pieces of embossed cardstock behind a central photo. I've used pink core'dinations cardstock and also the Chocolate Box core'dinations (with a pink core).

BMX fun
Here is my take on the August sketch from NZ Paper Chase.
My two little ones had a go on the BMX track (with a little help from Dad).
I used a hambly screen print over black cardstock, embossed Black Magic Core'dinations cardstock, raw chipboard cogs, twine, staples, rolled paper and did lots of machine stitching. The ttitle was cut using Cricut cartridges 'Dude' and 'Plantin Schoolbook'. I altered my the colour hues on my photos to give them an edgy look. I had fun doing this grungy layout.

Bee Happy
Here's my submission for the Cooking with Cricut challenge - 'Pick your Poison'. It's hard to pick a favourite colour and cartridge but I have done alot of yellow layouts recently and 'Walk in my Garden' is pretty cute.
I cut the sunflowers and bee from that cartridge (and the word phrase from 'Just Cards'). The cardstock used is Core-dinations Black Magic series which I embossed and sanded (see black panel with Cuttlebug "Flwer dots'), sanded flowers and made stripes in the word 'BEE'. Love that cardstock. Its hard to see from the photo, but the bee has his wings cut from sheer ribbon.

Feeling the Magic
I've been having more fun with the new Core'dinations Black Magic collection and have been trying alot of different techniques as seen on the Core'dinations website. For this layout I tried Tearing, Embossing, Debossing and Labelling with the red/black cardstock. Very cool.
I had already chosen a 'vintage' look with my photos and by teaming it up with Bo Bunny paper and Core'dinations, I think the layout has a grungy/shabby chic feel about it. It's a very different layout style for me and I absolutley love it!
I did this layout for the Scrapbook Outlet Friday Night Challenge - love their weekly challenges.

Black Magic
I finally managed to get hold of some Core'dinations cardstock - Black Magic collection - Hocus Pocus. It's particularly hard to get hold of but Crafty Tart has it and seems to be the only place in NZ that does stock it. Check out the LHS of the layout.... after embossing the cardstock, I then lightly sanded the top to reveal the core colour (red in this case) underneath. Magic!
